Frequently Asked Questions
Swim with Sam is a "travel to you" service across Miami-Dade and Broward Counties. You provide the pool, we provide the lessons.
While everyone has a different learning style, we recommend taking at least 12 lessons to provide enough 1:1 instructor time and practice to hone your technique with confidence. With the appropriate amount of lessons, we can achieve our goal of helping you swim safely, confidently, and fearlessly.
We recommend 3 times a week (2 at the bare minimum) to ensure you’re getting essential practice for effective progress
Please keep in mind that COVID-19 is transmitted through the air and not through water. By properly maintaining your pool coupled with social distancing, increased cleaning, and disinfecting procedures of surfaces outside of the pool work in combination to keep you and our staff safe. Instructors will wear a mask in the pool when in close contact with swimmers. Masks will be removed at the discretion of the instructor as needed.
The only weather-related obstacle that warrants a last minute cancellation is lightning. Rain or clouds are not instances that require a lesson to be canceled. It’s sometimes more fun to swim in the rain! When it comes to our short-lived cool weather season, instructors will reschedule a lesson at their discretion if they feel the temperature is too low. If the weather is warm enough, the lesson is on!
If you don’t have a pool at your home or community complex, ask a friend or family member who has a pool if they would allow lessons to be conducted there. If that’s not an option, lessons can be conducted at a public pool facility. It is the client’s responsibility to locate a pool and ensure the instructor is able to conduct lessons there. Any entrance fees required by the aquatic facility are the client’s responsibility to cover.
If you/or your child has a serious fear of the water, we recommend taking a longer package (18 lessons recommended). This gives the instructor a sufficient amount of time to deconstruct the fear, recondition the thought process when in the pool, and practice effective skill-building techniques to equip you or your child to swim safely, confidently, and fearlessly.
Lesson packages can only be refunded if unused. Once the lesson package has begun, lessons are non-refundable. Any unused lesson credit can be used within a 1 year period.
Clients must give at least 24 hours notice before canceling or rescheduling a lesson. We only accept 1 late notice cancellation/rescheduling due to illness-related instances. After, all late notice cancellations or rescheduling attempts (other than weather related instances) will count as a lesson and will not be refunded or rescheduled.
